As the threat of snows turns the NOVA CLASSIC into a one day event; Highlanders place 4

After the threat of snow, the tournament was shrunk to accommodate a one day event. If you made the quarterfinals; you remained in the tournament. If you've lost just one match; you were all of a sudden eliminated. Even with the tough luck event, the Highlanders brought back 4 medals. 106lb FRESHMAN - Ethan Scurlock (7th), 126lb Junior - Justus Porter (7th), 132lb Junior - Zach Chung (8th), 138lb Senior - Calvin Zug (4th). 3rd Annual Red & Silver Match a success!

The alumni ends up 0-3 after being defeated by our current wrestlers. The Lions' youth matches kicked things off with appearances from a couple members of the Johnson Family, among other future highlanders wrestlers. Followed by another dramatic Wanzer twins battle (in luchador wrestling masks). From there, our beginners got their first taste of action. Oscar Auza defeated brother Roberto Auza after Roberto had a run-in with the trash can. Gavin Legg defeated Forrest Stieg, and Brendan Grammes defeated his 2x state champion brother, Conor Grammes. An overall success and fantastic to see the dozens of alumni that made it back to watch! (Next year, remember to stay for the group photo! )

Inaugural Red & Silver Match a huge success!

A big thank you to everyone that came out to support us as we showcased the talented student athletes in the McLean community.

We had a packed house!

The "Lions" and the "Force" youth wrestling programs were well represented with 5 matches. A barn-burner between the Wanzer twins with a 12-11 finish.

We had 11 matches battled after that. Including a mystery guest that got his "second wind" late in the match, but still falling to Brendan Grammes. And capped it all off with a tough fought 1-0 victory between Conor Grammes and Gavin Legg.

It was great to see all of the alumni and community come out to support the Highlanders' wrestlers. Can't wait to do it again next year!
