MYTHBUSTERS
Because wrestling is new to many people, there can be some confusion. Here are a few myths:

“Wrestling is Too Hard”: FALSE

It's true that wrestling is demanding, but the demand makes it even more rewarding. A wrestler is part of an elite group of people; a wrestler knows he can accomplish anything.

“Wrestlers Starve Themselves”: FALSE

Wrestlers compete in weight classes near their own natural weight. Most wrestlers will lose weight as they burn fat, but strict state/national rules make sure no wrestlers are “cutting weight.” Wrestlers are usually the MOST informed about proper nutrition, and other life lessons.

“Doing a Sport Will Hurt My Grades”: FALSE

With time to stay after or go to the library after school, teammates to help and coaches to guide you, many wrestlers DO BETTER DURING the season! The coaches will check grade sheets, and help set goals for your grades. In addition, a recent article in Forbes touted: “Wrestlers Make the Best Employees.”

“Wrestlers Wear Tights”: FALSE

A wrestling singlet is nothing different than Under Armour for the entire body. Besides, wrestling gives you a body YOU WILL WANT TO SHOW OFF!!!

“I Need to Lift for Football, Instead of Wrestling”: FALSE

Wrestling makes you stronger AND teaches you how to use your strength better. College and NFL coaches scout for wrestlers because they have the competitive edge.
